ARTSCORPS volunteers support artistic endeavors at Anderson
Center Music and Theatre department events. Volunteers work as
ticket takers, ushers, and greeters. To learn more about ARTSCORPS,

volunteers must attend a mandatory training session before beginning
their duties. Also offering internships.

Binghamton
University Red Cross Club

Founded in the mid 1990's, BURCC works directly with the
Binghamton Blood Drive Chapter of the American Red Cross to organize
campus blood drives, including blood drives with other student
groups. Members table before the drive occurs, and also help with
canteening and registration during the actual blood drive.

Charles
Drew Minority Pre-Health Society

The Charles Drew Pre-Health Society is an organization that is dedicated
to assisting students in pursuing careers in the health professions.The Society
volunteers its services for the purpose of heightening the awareness and understanding
of issues in health, medicine, and science, in general as they relate to all
members of the community. Through the various interactions and activities that
it offers, students can gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to interact
appropriately within multicultural and diverse environments, required for competency
within the medical field.
Community Service Opportunities: Community service offers
a great opportunity for students to find out what motivates them to enter the
health professions. Each month the Society offers activities that are mainly
general in basis, as well as more long-term commitment arrangements, like the
MAPS mentoring program. It also co-sponsors events with the Community Service
Network.

K

friendship organization sponsored by a Kiwanis club on a college or university
campus. Circle K International shares the focus of serving the children of
the world. In support of this effort, the Circle K International service initiative

Habitat
for Humanity

Since 1976 Habitat has built more than 50,000 houses with families
throughout the US and another 100,000 plus houses in communities around the
world. Now at work in 92 countries, we are building a house every 26 minutes.The
Binghamton University chapters works with Broome County Habitat for Humanity
and welcomes all people to assist with building simple, decent, affordable
houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter.

Harpur's
Ferry Student Volunteer Ambulance Service

Since 1973, Harpur's Ferry
Student Volunteer Ambulance Service has provided Binghamton University
students, faculty, staff, and surrounding communities with the highest
standard of care. HFSVAS is a completely volunteer, student-run ambulance
service with approximately 140 dedicated members. HFSVAS is called
to over 500 emergencies a year and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week using four emergency vehicles: Two Advanced Life Support Ambulances
using 12-lead monitoring technology, one ALS fly-car and one BLS Chief's
Car.
Required Training/Applications: Four hours of training
and an interview are required.

High Hopes Crisis Intervention Center

High Hopes Crisis Intervention Center is a 24-hour, student-run crisis, counseling
and information hotline. Counselors always listen to any concerns a caller
may want to discuss. Callers are helped to recognize their options and are
encouraged to solve their problems on their own. High Hopes also has information
and referrals concerning pregnancy, AIDS, STDs, birth control, drugs and
many other topics. Each semester High Hopes welcomes all students interested
in training to become counselors.

Since 1973, NYPIRG has played the key role in fighting for more than
120 public interest laws and executive orders. NYPIRG's 20 college campus charters
provide much of NYPIRG's energy, resources, and activism.

of Hispanic Professional Engineers - SHPE
The SHPE Binghamton student chapter is an engineering/science organization
based in the Watson School. We wish to develop and participate in programs
with industry and the University that benefit students seeking technical degrees.
SHPE provides students with opportunities to network and advance their careers,
to build leadership and teamwork skills, to develop socially and professionally,
and to encourage students to become active leaders and contributors to the
community.

Environmental Action Coalition

SEAC, pronounced, "seek," is a student and youth run national
network of progressive organizations and individuals whose aim is to uproot
environmental injustices through action and education. We define the environment
to include the physical, economic, political and cultural conditions in which
we live. By challenging the power structure, which threatens these environmental
conditions, SEAC works to create progressive social change on both the local
and global levels.
